Notes from the Content Cortex session at IBM TechXchange 2026, Atlanta.

I spent Monday through Wednesday at IBM TechXchange in Atlanta. The session worth writing about was the Content Cortex discussion. Maybe 60 or 70 people in the room. Here is what I took from it.

01

What IBM says is driving this

Four things: agents, machine-scale workloads that humans can’t do, SaaS, and quantum safety — keeping content safe once quantum is commercial. The first two are the ones that matter for our customers right now.

02

What Cortex is

IBM is pulling its content services into one offering. Essentials is already in use at some clients. Premium launched at the end of September. In practice, Cortex means three things: activate content for AI, govern it with access controls, and run agentic workloads on it. One piece I hadn’t seen before: you can now move between active content in FileNet and static content in CMOD in a single flow.

03

The number

IBM cited that 14% of organizations believe their content is AI-ready. Most of the session was about the other 86%.

04

ROI

One hour of human work in a second. One department cited upwards of $964K in savings. Big numbers. They only hold if the pipeline underneath keeps running.

of enterprise information is content (as cited by IBM)

For FileNet shops

The IBM FileNet monitoring test list

The 45+ FileNet P8 tests Reveille runs out of the box — Content Engine, Process Engine, Content Navigator, CMIS, and the IBM Listener counters — on one page.

Ungated. No registration.

Where Reveille fits

IBM’s message to its install base was to maximize flexibility, connect MCP servers to the LLMs you already use, and get content AI-ready. Fair. But AI-ready content is content that moves through FileNet, CMOD, and now Cortex without failing silently. Reveille watches that layer. The vendor’s dashboards and SLAs measure the platform. We measure the workflow and keep an independent record of it. As more IBM shops put agents on top of their content, that record matters more, not less.

The point

The vendor’s dashboards and SLAs measure the platform. We measure the workflow and keep an independent record of it.
