On July 30, UiPath made Helix Extractor 2.0 generally available in Europe and the US. In the same release notes, Helix Extractor 1.0 was deprecated — and every Document Understanding project still running it gets automatically migrated by the end of August. Not proposed. Not scheduled with you. Automatic.
The same release changed the meter. AI Unit consumption for classification and extraction is now charged per operation instead of a flat rate per page — for Document Understanding and IXP both. If invoices, claims, or onboarding packets flow through UiPath today, the model reading them and the math billing them both change this month.
There’s a name for this pattern, and 2026 keeps producing examples of it: the Silent Swap — a vendor replacing a component underneath a production document pipeline, on the vendor’s schedule, not yours.

01 — The Swap
The Helix Extractor 2.0 swap: three moving parts.
What UiPath’s July cloud release actually changes underneath production.
Read the July 2026 release notes the way an operations owner should, and three lines matter. Helix Extractor 2.0 is GA, trained on data through mid-July. Helix Extractor 1.0 is deprecated, with remaining projects automatically migrated by the end of August. And classification and extraction now bill per operation instead of per page — digitization stays free, everything else gets a new meter.
They’re not the only floor-moves in the stack this quarter. The Test Automation module went fully deprecated on July 31, and the Anthropic models available to UiPath agents rotate out on September 10 and October 14. None of these are incidents. All of them change what production does.
02 — The Quiet Part

Why the platform will report success either way.
This is what makes an extractor swap different from an outage. The queue empties. The bot runs green. The workflow completes. And a vendor-name field that came back at 96% confidence in June comes back subtly different in September — mapped, committed, and paid. In Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), accuracy is the product, and accuracy has no status page. The failure modes that actually hurt are the ones that look like success.
The meter drift is just as quiet. Per-operation billing means the cost of the same document volume is now a function of pipeline design — how many classification and extraction calls each document triggers. Nobody gets an alert when unit economics shift. They get a bill.
03 — The Watch
Run the cutover on your terms.
Three moves before August 31 — and the visibility to prove them.
First, inventory every Document Understanding project still on Helix 1.0 and migrate deliberately, before the bulk auto-migration does it for you. Second, baseline now, while 1.0 is still the one producing your numbers: field-level accuracy, confidence scores, exception and validation rates, throughput, AI Units per document. Third, treat the cutover window like a deployment — because that’s what it is, even though you didn’t schedule it.
