About the Multi-Server Feature
The multi-server feature enables multiple Reveille Servers, known as Worker Servers, to use a single shared Reveille database. Monitors can be assigned to separate Worker Servers to provide scale out capabilities, leveraging a single shared Reveille database.
Here are some important things to remember about a multi-server configuration:
- Monitors only run on the Server that they are assigned to in the Multi Server Settings dialog box.
- Database maintenance only runs on the Reveille server specified in the Multi Server Settings dialog box.
- File cleanup happens on every Reveille Server.
- Distributed synchronization only runs on the server specified in the Multi Server Settings dialog box.
- All Reveille Servers in a multi-server environment must have their system clocks synchronized.
The Multi Server Settings dialog box enables you to define the settings for a multiple server environment. The dialog box is displayed by clicking Multi Server Settings on the toolbar, or from the Reveille Admin console menu by clicking File > Multi Server Settings.
Individual Server Settings
In general, all settings are global to all Servers in a multi-server configuration, since the Servers all share the same database. Settings marked on the Server tabs with are server specific. Settings specific to the Local Server only are disabled for all non-Worker Servers.
The following settings are Server specific:
- Server General Tab: All settings.
- Server Database Tab: Scorecard Settings option.
- Server Maintenance Tab: Last Maintenance Performed on option.
The following setting is specific to the Local Server only:
- Server Maintenance Tab: Maintenance Cycle Run button.
