System Requirements

Reveille 8 User Analytics requires the hardware and software listed in the following sections to ensure optimal performance. Review the Reveille 8 User Analytics readme.txt file for additional details.

  • In a Test environment:
    Reveille 8 and Reveille 8 User Analytics can be installed on the same server. Likewise, the database for each can be installed on the same database server.
  • In a Production environment:
    For best performance, capacity, and availability, Reveille and Reveille User Analytics should be installed on separate production servers. Reveille databases should be installed as separate databases (SQL Server) or tablespace schemas (Oracle) on a separate production database server(s) or database cluster

Server Hardware

ImportantContact your Reveille Account Representative to discuss your specific production operation requirements. A technical review will be completed to determine the appropriate design and sizing for the Reveille 8 User Analytics production environment.
ClosedSingle Reveille 8 User Analytics Server and HTTP/TCP Collector Server

These servers are appropriate for testing/development, not production use.

It is highly recommended that Reveille 8 User Analytics be installed on a dedicated 64-bit server (physical or virtual) with the following configuration:

  • 64-bit Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server, Windows 2012 R2 Server, or Windows 2016 Server
  • 20 GB free disk space (NTFS-formatted)
  • Dual Xeon class processors (2 GHz minimum)
  • 4 GB RAM minimum
  • For virtual machines - 4 vCPU with 8GB vRAM - full production sizing will vary based on resource requirements.
  • Graphics card capable of 65,536 colors and resolution set greater than 256 colors
  • Dual Windows-supported NIC’s
ClosedReveille 8 User Analytics Server (Typical Production)

It is highly recommended that Reveille 8 User Analytics be installed on a dedicated 64-bit server (physical or virtual) with the following configuration:

ClosedHTTP Collector Server (Typical Production)
NoteUsing a virtual machine for the Reveille 8 User Analytics Collector is highly dependent on network topology and virtual software environment. If the application server is located behind a load balancer, the load balancer should pass the true client ip address of the client machine to the application server. Reveille 8 User Analytics supports many RSA based (not ephemeral) key exchanges for SSL traffic. Contact your Reveille Account Representative to discuss your specific production environment requirements as part of a Reveille 8 User Analytics technical review.

  • Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server, Windows 2012 R2 Server, Windows 2016 Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server x86 class server (verify Red Hat hardware support at https://hardware.redhat.com/), Solaris Sparc 64-bit class server, or AIX Power PC 64-bit class server

  • Quad Core Xeon class processor (2 GHz minimum with 6M Cache)
  • 4 GB DDR2 RAM minimum
  • For virtual machines - 2 vCPU with 4 GB vRAM - full production sizing will vary based on resource requirements.
  • Dual Windows-supported NIC’s supporting PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express). One NIC connected to the appropriate network switch span/mirror port, data access switch, or network segment to capture desired HTTP traffic.
ClosedTCP Collector Server (Typical Production)

It is highly recommended that Reveille 8 User Analytics be installed on a dedicated physical server with the following configuration:

  • Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Server, Windows 2012 R2 Server, Windows 2016 Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server x86 class server (verify Red Hat hardware support at https://hardware.redhat.com/), Solaris Sparc 64-bit class server, or AIX Power PC 64-bit class server
  • 20 GB free disk space (NTFS-formatted)
  • Quad Core Xeon class processor (2 GHz minimum with 6M Cache)

Database Server Software

Reveille 8 User Analytics uses a centralized database and is certified for the following databases:

  • MS SQL Server 2012 with SP1 – SP2
  • MS SQL Server 2012 Express Edition with SP1 – SP2 (10GB Database Size limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2014 with SP1
  • MS SQL Server 2014 Express Edition with SP1 (10GB Database Size limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2017 Express Edition (Note: 10GB Database Size Limit)
  • MS SQL Server 2017
Note Reveille supports these Microsoft ODBC drivers: SQL Server, ODBC 11 Driver for SQL Server, ODBC 13.1 Driver for SQL Server, and ODBC 17 Driver for SQL Server.

Oracle database support requires the Oracle 64-bit ODBC Client Drivers on the Reveille Server.

—OPTIONAL—

  • MongoDB 3.2 or above. Recommended for packet and message storage in high volume environments.  Reveille 8 User Analytics always requires either a SQL Server or Oracle database for configuration, operating, and transaction data storage.

Client Software

Reveille 8 User Analytics User Console - Internet browser software with a 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution. The minimum browser levels are:

  • Internet Explorer 11.0 in native mode
  • Microsoft Edge Version 40.15063.674.0
  • Mozilla Firefox 50
  • Chrome 55

Environment

Access to an SMTP Email Gateway for use by Reveille 8 User Analytics reporting and system alerts.
