Introducing Reveille
Reveille is a monitoring solution for tracking and reporting the health of business-critical systems. Reveille increases your ability to:
- Continuously observe your technology investment across its many operating environments.
- Communicate business service level information through dashboards, reports, and notification processes.
- Rapidly identify application problems and process exceptions.
- Accurately deploy the proper resources to resolve problems.
- The simplicity of Reveille allows a broad audience to view and continually monitor your business-critical systems. Reveille, using both an agent-less stimulation approach and passive collection approach, can quickly observe and identify exceptions for business critical applications and business processes.
- Reveille observes both applications and processes. For example, Reveille identifies any access issues to a server, and tests an application's ability to complete a series of steps, or exceptions within a process.
- Reveille can leverage existing Monitor information and summarize in a business service level dashboard.
Some of the resources and processes Reveille can monitor are:
- Web sites.
- ODBC-compliant databases such as Oracle®, SQL, and DB2®, and other database subsystems.
- Web Services-based applications and interfaces as part of an SOA architecture.
- J2EE Application Servers and Java applications supporting JMX technology.
- Completion of specific transactions, file transfers, backups, data center synchronizations, and processes.
- Mainframe applications and subsystems such as CICS® and TSO.
- Applications running on Windows servers, mainframes, Power (iSeries™, AS/400®) systems, and UNIX or Linux® operating systems.
- Status of servers, business processes, and network components.
- E-mail servers such as Exchange or SMTP/POP.
- Windows Servers operating health and Windows-GUI applications.
- File movement, size and content.
- Specific content management applications from leading Enterprise Content Management (ECM) vendors such as EMC Captiva, EMC Documentum®, EMC Document Sciences, IBM FileNet, IBM Content Manager, and Kofax.
By monitoring these resources, Reveille detects the following:
- Status of application resources and business processes from the application user perspective.
- Process exceptions using threshold comparisons and network connectivity issues.
- Application errors running on many computer platforms.
- Service Level Agreement (SLA) violations.
- Scorecard Metrics of key operating parameters for a business application.
