Understanding the Distribution Share
The Distribution Share is a network location used for holding files needed in a multi-server environment, so the files can be shared or synced between Servers. The Distribution Share has two folders:
- Collector. Contains the Collector data packages for use by any Reveille Server.
- SyncRoot. Used for syncing files between Servers, such as WMI, SQL, and SSH scripts. The folder has the same layout as the Server default installation, and files are synced based on the settings in the DistributiuonShare.xml file.
The synchronization happens during the maintenance cycle of each Server. All Kofax Monitor Servers in a multi-server environment must have their system clocks synchronized. In order to run a monitor with custom scripts on a different Server other than where the Monitor was created or imported, the maintenance cycle needs to run on both Kofax Monitor systems first.
The synchronized file activity is logged in the System Log.
Share Access
The Reveille Application Pool and Monitor Service must use Windows account identities that have access to the Distributed Share. The user logged into the Reveille Admin console also needs access so a wizard can copy Monitor Test files to the share. This is required when creating a new Monitor that dynamically creates Monitor Test files, such as the WMI or SQL Wizard.
Deleting Files
When deleting files, any files used by the share need to be deleted on every Reveille Server, and the share itself, to prevent the same files from being resynchronized to each Reveille Server.
