Using the Trace Route Wizard

The Trace Route wizard adds one or more Resources and Tests to a Monitor, which trace the route taken from the Web server to a specified resource being monitored, and generates a list of identifiers specifying the route.

To trace the route taken from the Web server to a specified Resource using the Trace Route wizard, follow these steps:

  1. From the Add Monitor Tests Using Wizard dialog, select Trace Route Wizard, and click OK. The Trace Route Wizard window appears.
  2. Under Web Server Performing Test, enter the name of the Web server performing the Test.
  3. Under Host Name, enter the name of the host to be traced.
  4. Next to Timeout, enter the number of milliseconds you want the Web server to attempt to access the resource before returning a timed-out error.
  5. Under Resource Name, enter the name of the Monitor Resource associated with this Test.
  6. Under Test Description, enter a description of the current Test.
  7. Select Auto-generate Resource Name to automatically generate the Resource Name based on the Host Name.
  8. Select Run Test to run the current Test. The Test Result dialog appears.
  9. Close the Test Result dialog, and click Add Test.  The Trace Route Wizard dialog appears.
  10. Click OK, and then click Finish.

The Left Navigational Pane shows the new Resource and Test.
