Using the Ping Wizard
The Ping wizard helps you add a Test to determine if a host is responding properly to a ping.
To determine if a host is responding to a ping, follow these steps:
- From the Add Monitor Tests Using Wizard dialog, select Ping Wizard, and click OK. The Test Definition Wizard window appears.
- Under Web Server Performing Ping, enter the name of the Web server performing the ping. Use Localhost or the name of the Reveille Server.
- Under Host Name, enter the name of the computer name or IP address of the computer to be pinged.
- Next to Timeout, enter the number of seconds to wait for the host to respond to the ping.
- Under Resource Name, enter the name of the Monitor Resource associated with this Test. This option is disabled if Auto-Generate Resource Name is selected.
- Under Test Description, enter a description of the current Test.
- Select Auto-generate Resource Name to automatically generate the Resource Name based on the Host Name.
- Select Run Test to run the current Test. The Test Result dialog appears.
- Close the Test Result dialog, and click Add Test. The Ping Wizard dialog appears.
- Click OK.
- Repeat steps 3 through 9 to add more Ping Tests.
- Click Finish.
The Left Navigational Pane shows the new Resource and Test.
