Using the IMAP Server Email Wizard

The Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) Server Email wizard enables you to test the functionality of an Exchange e-mail server by specifying a server name and e-mail address to use.  

Reveille sends an e-mail message to the TO address from the FROM address through the server. If the e-mail message is successfully sent, Reveille deletes the message from the Inbox and repeats the process as specified in the Monitor.

To test the functionality of an Exchange e-mail server using the IMAP Server Email wizard, follow these steps:

  1. From the Add Monitor Tests Using Wizard dialog, select IMAP Server Email Wizard, and click OK. The IMAP Server Email Wizard window appears.
  2. Click Next. The next wizard page appears with the IMAP Server Settings tab automatically selected.
  3. Under Web Server Performing Test, enter the name of the Web server performing the Test.
  4. Under IMAP Server (incoming), enter the name of the IMAP server to be tested. For example  :

    You can enter an address:
    mail.yourcompany.com

    -OR-

    You can enter an address and port:
    mail.yourcompany.com:33
  5. Under User Name, enter the user name used to connect to the IMAP server.
  6. Under Password, enter the password used to connect to the IMAP server.
  7. Enter the password again under Confirm Password.
  8. Select Encrypt User Name and Password to encrypt the user name and password for the IMAP server.
  9. Select SSL if using SSL/TLS for sending or receiving e-mail. Verify the proper ports before using SSL/TLS.
  10. Select Use the same credentials for IMAP and SMTP servers if the credentials are the same for both servers.
  11. Click the SMTP Server Settings tab.
  12. Under SMTP Server (outgoing), enter the name of the SMTP server to be tested.  For example:

    You can enter an address:
    mail.yourcompany.com

    -OR-

    You can enter an address and port:
    mail.yourcompany.com:33
  13. Enter the credentials for the SMTP server if you did not choose to use the same credentials for both servers.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Under From (email address), enter the originating e-mail address.
    Under To (email address), enter the destination e-mail address.
  16. Click Next.
  17. Click Run Test to run the current Test. The Test Result dialog returns the result of your test.
  18. Select Auto-generate Resource Name to generate the resource name based on the IMAP and SMTP servers.
  19. Close the Test Result dialog, and click Add Test to add the current Test to the named Resource. The IMAP Server Email Wizard dialog confirms whether your Test was created successfully.
  20. Click OK, click Next, and then click Finish.  

The Left Navigational Pane displays the new Resource and Test.
